West Passyunk Revitalization Kickoff Event - January 19

This week, we are having a huge event to let the community about changes that will be happening in West Passyunk with two major projects that are taking place in 2012.

The West Passyunk Neighbors Association with much help from Diversified Community Services, has received a Corridor Improvement Grant from the Department of Commerce. The grant is for a cleaning services along Snyder Avenue and funding for beautification and lasts for a whole year. The cleaning crew has been out already and the we are beginning to see a difference.

The other project is for street and sidewalk improvements on West Passyunk Avenue, from Broad St. all the way down to 63rd St. The West Passyunk Coalition will be working with PENNDOT to implement greenscaping and beautification sites while the construction is taking place.

Along with these two big projects, we want to bring out other organizations that have had a positive impact on our area. Special guests include but are not limited to: Philadelphia More Beautiful, The Commerce Department, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, The 311 Neighborhood Liason Program.

The event is this Thursday, January 19th, 6:30-8:00pm at the Steven Girard School, located at 18th St. and Snyder Ave.

I believe that this will be a great start for the residents of West Passyunk in 2012 and that it will have a positive impact in our area.
